I sort of.. Deleted all the forum users on accident. Luckily I had a backup, so most people shouldn't notice. However it will think all posts put up since November are new so you'll have to accept my apologies for that.

I have received emails and there have been numerous posts in the forums inquiring about the current status of COR.

This is way past due, but then again, we didn’t really want to do this. Please keep in mind that all of us here on the COR Team would love to continue development and even continue on a commercial scale, but life rears its head and we can’t ignore that.

So officially, development has stopped on the previous magnitude that it was operating in the past. What does this mean for COR? Well, we all love the gaming community, because without it, we wouldn’t have had this great experience. To address the question directly, COR will sit, waiting for larger resources to be spent on it, whether that be fostered as the reincarnation of the COR Team in UE3 (me sharing a dream here), or a small upcoming MOD team that wants to scoop up the preverbal “dented” ball (that is *not* an open offer, but if they show promise…).

Where the hell did everyone go? I just wanted to answer this question to brag about our team and where they ended up after this whirlwind experience, and to explain a bit of why COR is waiting for something bigger and better.

So now the reason that COR is dormant is a bit self evident in the fact that most of our leads and managers were hired and are now scattered across the states.

COR to us has been a great experience with the team, the industry, and the great community that you people have created. If you ask anyone on the team, I am not the person to articulate sentimental statements voluntarily…

This was a life changing experience for me and I want to personally thank the team (I don’t want to hear a word about this), the community (=ST=, BU, MODDB), the industry (X-Fire, Discreet, Redstorm, PC Gamer, Epic), our QA team that endured my "personality", and a select few at our University (You know who you are because I yell at you all the time).

Whew, what a ride.

We would like to thank all that entered and congratulate the winners of the COR Project mapping contest. The winner’s are as follows:

We have selected the grand prize winner and the 1st runner up to be included officially in the next patch of COR because they were so difficult to judge for the grand prize. The staff over at MODDB has given us our first actual award from the community. If you head over to MODDB.com you can check out their “MOD of the month” section on the right side of the page. We want to thank “Chopp” for doing such a great review of COR. Click on the award picture for the interview.

In other news, our mapping contest is now closed. All entries are being judged right now and we should have the results in by next week. Thanks to all those who participated.

This is the final reminder for all COR map contestants. All maps must be turned in by Sunday, July 31st at 11:59pm. Please use www.yousendit.com , this site is known to be slow on sending out emails, so if you are worried about it not going through (which has happened already) please email me the link manually to nick@corproject.com. Competition is looking steep, so put as much polish as you can into your maps by Sunday night. Please make sure to include all packages required for your map or it will be disqualified. More information can be found in the contest forums.

The guys over at XFire.com have been gracious enough to officially support COR with XFire. If you don’t have XFire you need to get it, you will be able to tell when everyone is playing COR and more of your favorite games.

Speaking of which, we have Dev team matches on the public servers every Friday night at 8PM Pacific Time. Drop by to see if any of our devs are worth anything on the field. Plus I need to find someone that can beat me.

So, after finding some very frustrating bugs, we have a new patch out. We are sorry for the time that it took us to get this patch out, but after we fixed a few things we realized that our site cant handle a 20 meg file download from you guys. I will be posting more mirrors on this news post. A big thanks to all those who helped track down the bug, those of you that were at the launch party playing “crash bingo” and those of you on our forums that we pasting call stacks. We really appreciate the support from you guys.

INSTRUCTIONS:
All you need to do is extract this zip into your UT2004 directory. It will ask you to overwrite files, if it doesn’t, you have extracted it into the wrong directory.

Just as a reminder to everyone COR will be released on Friday, June 24th. We have a live presentation at 1PM Pacific Time. You can catch the live video stream here: http://www.uat.edu/cor/. There is only a placeholder at this site right now, but at the time of the presentation you will see a link to the live streaming video.

In light of that, we need help from the community. You can help us in three ways:

1) Hop on the forums at http://forums.corproject.com and let us know what you think about COR.

2) We need help hosting the release build. If you have a fileserver that can help us out please let us know. We want to get the build to people before we release, that way they can unlock the build on launch day. If you are willing to help host please contact me at nick@corproject.com.

3) If you have a server in Europe or Asia and would be willing to make it a dedicated COR server for at least a month, please contact me at nick@corproject.com and we will work something out.

Level designers, please make note that we are extending our map contest for another month. We wanted to do it at launch, but we think that having the build will help encourage more LD’s to compete. The new deadline is July 31st. To sign up, join our forums and head to the contest discussion and sign up. All the prizes are listed on the forums.

Front Page News :: Two New Characters

We have finalized the models for two new characters. Streak is a new CMR for the GHC. He is a hovering vehicle, which has the ability to lock his current velocity and direction for a short amount of time, enabling Streak to “vector lock” in his last direction after engaging this special ability. Our other new CMR is a COR half-track named Slice. With his laser cutter, Slice can create large beams which will be able to do moderate amounts of damage.

I can’t wait to get these guys in the game. I am sure that our playtesters are ready for new CMRs.

In other news, if you live in the Phoenix area, COR Project will be on FOX Ten news at 9PM on Friday (June 10th), don’t hesitate to tell us how goofy we sounded on the forums.
